FAMILY TAYASSUIDAE

     Peccaries possess four toes on their front feet and three on their rear feet.  They are omnivores which feed on a variety of plant material and invertebrates.

The tagua (collared peccary) is the largest wild pig in the world and exists only in an arid region of central South America known as the Chaco.
