MARBLED SALAMANDER

Marbled salamanders (Ambystoma opacum) are larger salamanders with thick bodies.  They breed in autumn and the larvae mature over 4-6 months.  The eggs are laid in nests on land and hatch after a rain.  The female may curl over the eggs until the rain comes.
