GOSHAWK
The northern goshawk is the largest North American accipiter; it reaches the size of buteo hawks. Goshawks prefer coniferous forests over deciduous ones and thrive in a variety of types of coniferous forests from the subarctic to Mexico. They feed on rabbits and other mammals and birds and prefer coniferous forests. Females are known for their defense of their nests, even from prying humans.
