GROUSE

Male ruffed grouse perform a behavior known as drumming to mark their territory and to attract females.  In order to make this sound they bring their wings forward and upwards and they can continue this behavior for hours.   During courtship, males can puff the feathers around their necks and fan their tails.  Grouse feed on insects, seed, and berries.
